I want to know more on the firewall setting. I cannot connect in the office but okay at home. What port need to be enabled for the extension to work.

Fairly detailed info of google wave’s feature you have here. This should be enough to introduce google wave to people hooked-up in the cyber-world.

Hi Brian,

When you start a chat with someone, you can’t switch to another person without ending the conversation first. The only way to do it is just end the session, start a new one with the other person, end that session again and go back to the first person.

I also recommend you and your friends to try the full expereince at http://www.6rounds.com. This way, you don’t have to be in the Wave all the time and can just keep a browser tab open and wait for invitations from your friends. The chat is basically the same (and offers a few more features as well).

I tried to use the application tonight and it all worked fine except that MY webcam wouldn’t connect. I could see and hear the other party, but couldn’t get my own webcam/mic to connect. I have a mac, while the other party has a pc–could this be the problem?

Have used a one-on-one example so far, and it worked great. The biggest challenge so far? Being online at the same time with others in our group! We seem to miss each other quite regularly! (Like walking into an empty building.)
Am wondering if three or more people wanted to, could they stagger where they sit in a seat, then change seats in mid-chat to address one another?

Hi,
Thanks for the great application. Works great so far – just hope GW will fix the issue when resizing the wave window.

IT would be awesome if the video chats could be joined by more than 2 persons… was my original hope when seeing the 6 seats, but unfortunately it’s still a face-to-face chat.
Any plan for extending the number of persons in a chat simultaneously?

Doesn’t work at all for me or the party I’m trying to connect to. Other flash based webcam services do work. I’m trying from a Ubuntu 9.10 machine usbvc spec’d dynex webcam. The party on the other end is running Snow Leopard with a firewire isight

Hi Robin,

The link http://st.6rounds.com/wave/widget2.xml is a link to an older version of the extension and I’m guessing that’s why it doesn’t work for you.

The current link is widget7.xml, but I suggest you install the extension here – http://bit.ly/1nWROV and that way you won’t have a problem with future upgrades.

When I install the Gadget, with the XML link, http://st.6rounds.com/wave/widget2.xml, then add a participant (on another PS in the same room), go to that PC, ie wave session, open the wave we both see the 6 round “portals”.

Both of us “Take a seat” and absolutely nothing happens. Not the message “Missed Call” is read others had had. The only think I can do is click the “Publish” button. Nada.

I know the video chat works, because I have it working between the two PCs within Google Chat.

What can I do to test this out? You definately need more of a presence to help people. You must be getting tons of publicity, but no FAQ, no Forum, no Help pages.

Hey nhh3 and Euro!

Usually, missed calls happen when one of the chat participants’ window is not in focus. This can happen when the user is just not in the wave or in another tab or window.

Another option is that one side is resizing the window while the extension is connecting, which, due to Google Wave restrictions, causes the extension to reload and the connection to drop – giving the other user the “Missed Call” screen.

Firewall issues shouldn’t happen, but if they do happen, the users should see a different message than the “Missed Call” one.

Just wondering what Euro is wondering, why can’t I connect with a friend I can use GoogleTalk with but not 6-rounds. Any tips on debugging network connectivity issues? Firewall issues?

I tried this extension with my friend many times. Why does it always show “Missed Call”? I haven’t connected once with my friend. But I can connect using Google video chat.

There is something I had thought of and it might very well be a future key future of 6Rounds: think of all the musicians that need to discuss a track they are workin’ on. Millions, probably.

Well, now (in the future), they have a 6Rounds activity called “Talk-a-tune” (replace with a more appropriate name…) which allows one of them to include a music track, listen to it together, see each other’s reaction AND add comment-tag on a time-line !! You become the N° 1 company in the world and you can take over the internet !!!

Seriously though, this would be a fantastic feature… It could be a separate Wave extension as well, I’ll let you figure that out
